Lab Test Reports — Verified by the University of the Sunshine Coast Australia

The honey industry has a trust problem. Most jars on the shelf claim more than they deliver. At Mustakshif, we do the opposite — we deliver more than we claim. And we have the independent lab reports to prove it.

If you've ever bought Manuka honey, you've probably stared at the label trying to decode what MGO 100+, 500+, or 900+ actually means. You've also probably wondered whether the number on the jar reflects what's really inside. It's a fair question — independent global studies have repeatedly found that a significant portion of honey on supermarket shelves is either adulterated, blended, or labelled with inflated potency claims that don't match laboratory reality.

That's why we sent three of our Manuka honey batches to the University of the Sunshine Coast Honey Lab in Queensland, Australia — one of the country's most respected academic honey-testing facilities — and asked them to test our honey using the gold-standard HPLC method.

The results genuinely surprised us. Every single batch tested above the MGO rating we sell it at. ORDER YOUR HONEY

What we found — every batch beat its label

Here's exactly what the University of the Sunshine Coast laboratory verified:

Sold as Independently Tested at Difference
MGO 100+ MGO 186+ +86 MGO above label
MGO 500+ MGO 695+ +195 MGO above label
MGO 900+ MGO 929+ +29 MGO above label

MGO 500+ Lab Test Report

MGO 900+ Lab Test Report

These aren't marketing numbers. They're verified laboratory measurements from accredited analysts working at one of Australia's leading universities — Dr. Asmaa Boufridi, with analysts Chau Tran, Georgia Moore, and Angelina Hambleton.

In other words: when you buy Mustakshif Manuka MGO 100+, you're actually getting honey closer to MGO 180+. When you buy our MGO 500+, you're getting MGO 690+. And our MGO 900+ tests at MGO 925+. We label conservatively to guarantee a minimum potency standard. What lands in your jar consistently exceeds it.

What is MGO, and why does it matter?

MGO stands for methylglyoxal — a naturally occurring compound found in significant concentrations only in genuine Manuka honey. It's produced when DHA (dihydroxyacetone) in the nectar of the Manuka flower (Leptospermum) converts during honey maturation.

The higher the MGO content, the more potent the honey. That's why MGO 100+ is positioned as everyday wellness honey, MGO 500+ as a premium grade, and MGO 900+ as ultra-premium therapeutic-grade honey.

But here's what most consumers don't know: MGO content is exactly what gets faked or exaggerated in adulterated honey. Without independent lab verification, an MGO claim on a label is just a number — not a guarantee.

That's why our University of the Sunshine Coast lab reports matter. They turn our claims into proof.

What the lab actually measured

The University of the Sunshine Coast tested our honey samples using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with 263nm detection — the scientific gold standard for analysing Manuka honey. The reports measured four critical markers:

MGO (Methylglyoxal) — the primary marker of Manuka potency. The higher the MGO, the more powerful the honey.

DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) — the precursor to MGO. As Manuka honey matures, DHA naturally converts into MGO. High DHA levels indicate that your honey will continue developing potency over time.

HMF (Hydroxymethylfurfural) — the freshness and heat-damage indicator. Low HMF levels prove the honey hasn't been heat-treated, overheated, or stored poorly. Our results showed HMF levels well below industry concern thresholds — confirming our honey is genuinely raw and unprocessed.

NPA (Non-Peroxide Activity) — the rating equivalent often shown on UMF-style honey jars. This gives you a second way to measure Manuka quality alongside MGO.

The results across all four markers tell the same story: pure, raw, high-quality Australian Manuka honey that exceeds its labelled rating.

Raw, unprocessed, and untouched by heat

Our Manuka honey is genuinely raw. That means it's never heated above natural hive temperature, never ultra-filtered to remove pollen and natural compounds, and never blended with cheaper honey to stretch volume.

Most commercial honey is pasteurised at 60-70°C and ultra-filtered for a clear, golden, shelf-stable appearance. The trade-off? Heat destroys the natural enzymes, antioxidants, and beneficial compounds that make raw honey so valuable in the first place.

Mustakshif Manuka is extracted from the comb at hive temperature, lightly strained to remove wax, and jarred. Nothing more. That's why it might crystallise over time — a natural sign of genuine raw honey, not a defect. It's why the colour is rich and deep rather than artificially clear. And it's why the lab reports show such strong MGO, DHA, and low HMF values.

When you taste Mustakshif Manuka honey, you're tasting it the way nature intended.

Halal-certified, Australian-made, family-owned

Mustakshif isn't a foreign brand putting an Australian sticker on imported honey. We're a halal-certified, Australian-owned, family-driven brand sourcing genuine Australian Manuka from Australian bushland.

For our Muslim customers, this matters deeply — our halal certification means every step of production meets Islamic standards. For everyone else, it means an extra layer of ethical and quality oversight that most honey brands don't offer.

And yes — the honey our Prophet (peace be upon him) described as containing healing for people, the honey mentioned with such reverence in the Qur'an (Surah An-Nahl 16:69), is the same honey we're proud to bring to your home in its purest, most verified form.

What this means for you

Most Manuka honey on Australian shelves is either imported, blended, processed, or makes claims that don't match laboratory reality. Mustakshif is the opposite — every batch is independently lab-verified by one of Australia's most respected research institutions, every jar is raw and unprocessed, every label is conservatively rated to guarantee minimum potency, and every drop is genuinely Australian.

When you choose Mustakshif, you're not just buying honey. You're buying proof.
